Chester L. Kraus

AGE: 92 • Bridgewater

Chester L. Kraus 92, died February 18, 2014. Chester was born in Whitehouse and raised in South Plainfield and formerly of Somerville before moving to Bridgewater in 1952. He was employed for NJ Bell Telephone in Central NJ as an engineer, retiring as a District Project Manager in 1984. Chester was a US Army Veteran serving during World War II in communications for Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was a member of the Somerville Lions Club where he served as past secretary, treasurer and president. In his spare time Chester also enjoyed gardening, golfing and bowling. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

He is predeceased by his brothers, Walter and John Kraus, and sister Wanda Kraus Bradley.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years Helen, daughter Barbara Kane, sons William Glen and his wife Linda, Jeffrey and his wife Laurel, five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am Saturday at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave., Somerville. Interment will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-6pm Friday at the funeral home.
