Joan N. Marren, 85, passed away peacefully at home, on February 21, with her loving family by her side. Born in Jamaica, Queens, NY, the daughter of the late Douglas and Edna Menger, Mrs. Marren was a long time resident of Dunellen, NJ.
Mrs. Marren worked for many years at Bambergers in Plainfield, NJ. Mrs. Marren was very active within the St. John's Catholic Church community in Dunellen. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and the Catholic Daughters. In addition, she was a member of the Columbiettes, the Dunellen Friends of the Library, the Library Book Club, as well as being a poll worker for the Dunellen Election Board for many years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Joan's family and extended family were everything to her. She lived to bake and cook for every holiday, and nothing gave her more joy than seeing the entire family together. She was truly the Matriarch of the family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marren was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Marren in 2007 and by her sister, Nina C. Mondoro in 2013. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Lonna Marren in 1997. Surviving are her sons, Edward and wife Denise of Plainfield, NJ, Jeffrey and wife Karen of Middlesex, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ray and Kyle Marren, Lauren Schuster and husband Kevin of Tinton Falls, NJ, Jessica and Megan Marren, along with Dan Doll and Frank Toth, who were like grandsons to her, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 9:00 AM at St. John's Catholic Church in Dunellen, NJ. All other services will be private. For more info, please visit www.sheenanfh.com.
