Ferdinand "Fred" J. Szczepanik, 81, of South Amboy passed away Monday February 24th 2014 at the NJ Veterans Home of Menlo Park in Edison surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sayreville he has resided in South Amboy for 53 years.
Before his retirement in 1987 he was employed as a Rigger for Hercules in Parlin for 33 years. Fred was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War, a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Amboy, a former communicant of St Stanislaus RC Church in Sayreville and a member of the St Stanislaus Seniors.
He is predeceased by his parents Ferdinand and Mary and his siblings Richard Szczepanik and Rose Marie Kwitkoski. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Mary Ann Kovach, his daughters Jo-Ann Lazarchick and her husband John of Morganville, Ann Marie Szczepanik and her husband Charles Gordon of Middlesex and Lori Szczepanik of Somerset, his grandsons Jonathan Michael and Justin Richard Lazarchick, his niece Dawn Carey, his nephew John Kwitkoski and his great nieces and a great nephew.
Funeral services will be held 8:30am Friday from the Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main St. Sayreville with a 9:00am Mass at St Stanislaus RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will follow at St Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 6pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Fred's name to the NJ Veterans Memorial Home, 132 Evergreen Rd., Edison, NJ 08818 Attn: Christine Caratozzolo.
