AGE: 87 • Brick
Catherine "Kasha" Michalski (nee Andrewshetsko), 87 of Brick, formerly of Perth Amboy, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick with her family by her side. Catherine was a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy before moving to Brick 7 years ago. She was employed by Garden State Shipping, Keasbey, as a Supervisor. She retired in 1988. Prior to that she worked at Gordon's Gin, Linden, as an Assembler. She was a parishioner of St. Stephen Ukrainian Catholic Church, Toms River and formerly of the Ukrainian Assumption Catholic Church, Perth Amboy. Catherine was a member of the PTA and a School Lunch Volunteer at the Ukrainian Assumption School and a member of the Senior Citizens Club and an avid bingo player and volunteer. She was also involved with making pierogies and baking bread for the Church. She loved cooking and making Ukrainian Easter Eggs. Most importantly she dedicated her life to taking care of her family.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents Joseph and Mary (nee Lykosh) Andrewshetsko; her brothers Michael, John & Stephen Andrewshetsko, Joseph Andrews; and her sisters Rosalie Schumacher and Dorothy Fontana. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Michael Michalski; her daughters and sons-in-law Ruth & William Szymialowicz, Paula & Ronald Dapuzzo of Brick; son and daughter-in-law Robert Michalski & Derede Arthur of Salinas, California; and her grandchildren Rachel & Rebecca Szymialowicz, Anthony & Justyna Dapuzzo.
We begin to leave on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 9:15 am from the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, for a Divine Liturgy at 10 am at the Ukrainian Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Ukrainian Assumption Cemetery. Visiting is on Friday from 3 ~ 8 pm.
