Mary Carol (nee Thompson) Schultz

AGE: 88 • Whiting

Mary "Carol" (nee Thompson) Schultz, 88, of Whiting, passed away at Whiting Health Care Center, on Monday, March 3, 2014. Born in Perth Amboy, her and her family moved to Fords when she was very young. Carol met Ken, her husband of 70 years, in the 8th grade. In February of 1944, Carol traveled by bus, to Joplin, MO to marry Ken, where he was serving in the US Army. After WWII, Carol & Ken purchased their first home in Fords. They resided there until 1978, when they moved to Spotswood and retired to upstate NY in 1985. In 1992, they returned to New Jersey, living in Crestwood Village in Whiting. Carol worked several jobs during her life including cashier at Fords Cinema, Johnson & Johnson & managed several retail stores. During their life together, Ken served in the US Army during WWII and Korea. Ken worked for ER Squibb & Sons for 37 years serving on the Squibb Fire & First Aid Squad, Woodbridge Police Reserve, Fords First Aid Squad, Spotswood Police Reserve & Whiting First Aid Squad, where he was captain for 2 years.

Carol was predeceased by her brother, John & sister, Elsie. Surviving is her husband, Ken; her sister, Kathryn; her brother, Robert; 3 children, 8 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Family Owned Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Lacey Rd., Whiting, NJ. Funeral service will be on Friday at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway, at 11:45am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the , Attn: Dept. 4, 322 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
