AGE: 91 • South River

Rosalie Szestakowski, age 91, of South River, passed away Wednesday March 12, 2014, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Belarus, Rosalie immigrated to the United States in 1950 and lived the remainder of her life in South River. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, having worked in the South River garment industry, retiring in 1983 from M&M Sportswear. She was a member of St. Euphrosynia of Polotsk Orthodox Church in South River and a member of the South River Senior Citizens.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anatol, in 1985, her sister, Yelena, in 1971 and her parents, Ivan and Maria Steslevich. She is survived by her beloved daughters and sons-in-law Emily Szestakowski with whom she lived, Lucia Bennett of NY,NY, Elena and Richard Bodin of St. Leonard, MD, Margaret and John Kaighn of Dennis Twp., her step-son Oleg Schestakoff and his family of Germany, her brother Leonid and extended family in Belarus. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren Scott Mulligan and his wife Michelle of Staten Island,NY, Allison Kaighn Janicki and her husband Timothy of Galloway, Megan Kaighn and her fiancé Anthomius Evans of Erma and Gregory Bodin of St Leonard, MD and her five great grandchildren, Ava, Timothy Jr. (TJ), Carter, Maeson, Urijah and Alexa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30am Saturday from the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Ave., South River with an 11am Service at St Euphrosynia Church, 248 So. Whitehead Ave., South River. Burial will follow at St Euphrosynia Cemetery, South River. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 7pm to 9pm. A Panahida service with choir will be held Friday at 7:30pm.
