Elaine Carney Cerekwas

Elaine (nee) Carney Cerekwas age 83 of South River passed away peacefully on March 19th 2014 at University Medical Center of Princeton in Plainsboro. Born in North Bergen she has resided in South River since 1953. Before her retirement in 1992 she was employed by United Artiest Movie Theaters in East Brunswick for 20 years, prior to that as a crossing guard for the Borough of South River from 1968 to 1975 and prior to that as a secretary for Ford Motor Company in Edison. Mrs. Cerekwas was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in South River where she was a member of the church choir and the sisterhood.
She is predeceased by her husband George F. Cerekwas on September 15, 2013, her parents Thomas and Florence Carney, her sister Florence Allen and her brother Thomas Carney. Surviving are her children Carol Clark of Spotswood, Judie Grandjean and her husband James of Jackson and Linda Kestner of Hillsboro, her grandchildren Heather Clark and Courtney Kestner and her brother Ronald Carney of Hamilton Township.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River followed by a 10am service at Saints Peter & Paul R.O. Church in South River with burial to follow at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, South River. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm with a Panahida service with choir to be held at 7pm.
