Peter L. Tomory, age 92 of South River passed away Sunday April 6, 2014 at Cranbury Center in Monroe Township. Born in New Brunswick he had resided in South River for most of his life. Before his retirement he was employed as a machinist mechanic for Johnson & Johnson Personal Products Division in Milltown for 42 years. Mr. Tomory was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII, where he was awarded the bronze star and a Purple Heart, and was a life member of the South River VFW Post 1451. He was a member of the South River First Reformed Church, the South River seniors, the J & J Friendship Club and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is predeceased by his parents Peter and Esther and his sisters Helen Parillo, Esther Kulesza and Dorothy Tomory. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, the former Eleanor Nagy, his daughters Diane Lindauer and her husband Ralph of Metuchen and Susan Strong and her husband James of Tennessee, his grandchildren Karl Lindauer and his fiancé Tracy Marino and Erich Lindauer and his siblings Eleanor Erickson of Michigan and Robert Tomory and his wife Olga of South River.
Calling hours at the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Ave., South River will be Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm, with a 7pm funeral service held that evening. A private cremation will follow, with a burial to take place at a later date at Washington Monumental Cemetery in South River.
