Rose Kijowski

AGE: 94 • Edison

Rose Kijowski, 94, of Edison passed away peacefully on April 24, 2014 at Cedar Oaks Care Center in Edison. She resided in Perth Amboy and Hopelawn for many years before moving to Edison to live with her daughter. Born in Naples, Italy on October 7, 1919 to the late Giuseppe and Philomena Rosica, She had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother, for whom she was named. Rose met the love of her life while John was stationed in Naples. John sent for Rose and they were married after the war ended in 1947. She became a citizen in 1952. Rose was a seamstress by trade and worked for several years both privately and in the industry. Later she became a Nurse's Aide at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy for 29 years, where she was affectionately known as "Mama Rosa"

Never thinking of herself, Rose was a caring and selfless individual always thinking of the needs of others. Homemade pizza and other baked goods were the talk of the neighborhood and everyone shared in her cooking and baking. In addition to her culinary skills Rose enjoyed singing Italian songs with her family.

Rose was predeceased by her loving husband, John , in 2004. She was also predeceased by her 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Kijowski of Edison, with whom she lived and her two sons, John and his wife Susan of Brick; and Raymond and his wife Maria of Jackson. Rose is also survived by her four loving and adoring grandsons: Anthony, Brandon and his wife Amy, Edward and Robert.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Services will begin Wednesday 9am at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 am Funeral Liturgy in Good Shepherd Parish at Most Holy Rosary Church, Hopelawn. Internment will be in Most Holy Rosary Cemetery.
