Francis X. Kelly died Friday, May 2, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 83. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he resided in Staten Island before moving to East Brunswick 44 years ago. Prior to his retirement in 1991, he was the first school principal at PS 69 in the New Springville section of Staten Island, NY for 16 years. Prior to that, he served as a teacher, guidance counselor and assistant principal at several NY City Board of Education Schools. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the East Brunswick Education Foundation, the EB Seniors, and he was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew RC Church, East Brunswick.

He was predeceased by a brother, John Kelly, and by two sisters, Patricia Carnivale and Eileen Guercia. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Florence Paul Kelly; three sons, Robert and his wife Carol Kelly of Ardsley, NY, Daniel and his wife Mary Chris Kelly of Monroe Township, and John Kelly of Reston, VA; three daughters, Kathleen Kowal of East Brunswick, Patricia and her husband Russell Judge of Odessa, FL, and Joanne Kelly of Middlesex; eight grandchildren, Bridget, Erin, Brendan, John, Kelly, William, Debbie and Julie; two great grandchildren, Ava and Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8:30 AM in the Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, followed by a 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew Church, East Brunswick. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
