Stephen J. Yelencsics, Sr., 91, of Edison died on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was a lifelong Edison resident. A US Marine Corp Veteran of World War II, he served in the three landings Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. He was a member of the John Basilone Chapter of the Marine Corp League and the Clara Barton American Legion Post 324 in Edison. Stephen was the owner and operator of the Raritan Valley Bus Service in Edison for the past 75 years. Stephen was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen.
He was predeceased by his brothers Kalman, Julius, Joseph, Anthony and Ernie, as well as sisters Helen Toth, Anne Brown, Rae Fercho and Mary Swales.
He is survived by his wife Rose (Klitsch); a daughter Joanne Ryngala and her husband Ken of Marco Island, FL; three sons Stephen J. Jr. and his wife Jan of Edison, Robert A. and his wife Tracy of Honeoye Falls NY, John L. and his wife Trish of Edison; Eleven grandchildren Nikki, Jaime, Todd, Kyle, Ryan, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Corey, Trevor, Molly and Riley; five great grandchildren Max, Ben, Holly, Hayden and Kellan.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home 568 Middlesex Ave. (RT 27) Metuchen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:15 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, followed by entombment at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
