Walter H. "Skip" Lyne, III, 74, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Rivers Edge Care Center in Raritan. Son of the late Walter H. and Mary Lyne, Skip was born in Long Island City, NY and lived in Bound Brook the past 60 years. Skip graduated Ithaca College, played in the 1962 College World Series and was drafted by the Detroit Tigers. He was a physical education teacher and coached a variety of sports in New Providence for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife Donna B. (Loveless) Lyne of Bound Brook; son, Michael Lyne and wife Kristine of Bridgewater; daughter, Laurie Lukacs and husband Steven of Hillsborough; sister, Geraldine McCormick of Franklin Park and grandchildren, Kenneth, Rachael, Karley, Michael and Matthew.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 PM on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 8:30 AM at the funeral home on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at St. Mary of Czestochowa in Bound Brook.
