AGE: 87 • Dunellen

Eugene "Red" Rabouin, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Dunellen, on Wednesday July 2. Born in Somerville, NJ, and a lifelong resident of Dunellen, he was the son of the late Paul and Millie (Keller).

After graduating from Dunellen High School, Mr. Rabouin served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Second World War, having been stationed in the Philippines. After returning home, he worked for the United States Postal Service in Dunellen, retiring after 38 years of faithful service. Red was very active in his community. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was also a part of the Blue Streaks Athletic Club, a coach for the Dunellen Little League, as well as being a member of the American Legion Post # 119 of Dunellen. Red was an avid sports fan, always rooting for his Yankees and Green Bay Packers. He has left his family and friends with wonderful memories, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Rabouin is survived by his adoring wife of 63 years, Joan (Cummings). He's also survived by his loving children, daughters Nancy Chesler and husband Rick of Dunellen, Michele Rabouin of Dunellen, Kim Wood and husband Ken of Warren and son Scott and wife Ann of Middlesex. Also surviving is his brother Paul of Piscataway. He's also survived by his 6 beloved grandchildren, Ricky Chesler, Mallory Horowitz, Michael and Bryan Wood, Brianne Strasser, and Matthew Rabouin and 1 great-grandchild, Matthew Horowitz.

A viewing will be held on Monday, July 7, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 8, at 10:00 AM at St. John's Catholic Church in Dunellen. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
