Stephen "Steve" Hardy, 64, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 7, 2014 at his home in Belle Mead. Born in Detroit, MI on September 26, 1949, he was the son of the late Redith (Blevins) Wilsker and William Hardy. Steve enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam as a Infantry Radioman in the Mekong Delta. He earned numerous awards, but also rewarded others by being there for them. As Steve aged, his PTSD and other sufferings worsened, but it did not keep him from enjoying time with his family. Steve also loved West Virginia where his Mother's family & ancestors lived. He also liked traveling to Wisconsin to visit his sister, playing card games and enjoying Sunday brunch with her family. He enjoyed breakfast and dinner every day at the Manville Diner.
Steve is survived by his beloved daughter, Dallas Parsons and his two granddaughters, Claire and Charlotte of Mount Joy, PA ; his sister, Louise and husband Bill Graham of Eau Claire, WI and three brothers, Tom Hardy and wife, Debbie of Hampton, NJ; Ted Pedersen and wife Diane of Hillsborough, NJ and Jerry Pedersen and his partner, Gary Tabasco of Montclair, NJ, and many nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his father William, his brother Harry Wilsker Jr., his mother Redith, many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who, with God our Father, will welcome him home.
Visitation is on Friday at the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 US Highway 206 Hillsborough NJ 08844 from 6 pm-9pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PTSD Foundation of America, PO Box 690748, Houston, TX 77269.
