Leo DiGuilio, Sr.

AGE: 78 • South Amboy

Leo DiGuilio, Sr., 78 from South Amboy died yesterday, July 30 at home. Born in Susquehanna, PA, Leo resided in Jersey City prior to settling in South Amboy. He was a long time parishioner at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy.

Prior to his retirement, Leo served 26 years as a career firefighter in Jersey City. Leo served in the United States Army as a Corporal specializing in anti-aircraft artillery during the Korean Conflict.

Leo was a 3rd Degree member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 426, South Amboy. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Monsignor Brady 4th Degree Assembly 676, South Amboy. Above all, Leo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed by all who knew him.

Predeceased by his siblings, Susan Ippolito, Sylvia Ramos, Violet Figeurro, Angelo DiGuilio and Josephine Thompson, Leo is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Eva, his sons, Leo, Jr., and Al, his daughter, Sylvia, his brothers, Henry DiGuilio, Hilery DiGuilio, and Raymond DiGuilio, his sisters, Helen Gibson, Nancy Ortenzio, Madeline Godino and Joann Patterson, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2PM to 4PM and 7PM to 9PM on Friday, August 1st. at Whiteley Funeral Home, 241 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. A mass of Christian burial will be said at 9AM Saturday, August 2nd at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 531 Washington Ave., South Amboy. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, Cranbury Road, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus, 308 Fourth St., South Amboy NJ 08879.
