John "Johnny" & Theresa Schurko

AGE: 87 • Fords

John "Johnny" Schurko, Jr., 87 of Fords, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side. John was born in Perth Amboy and raised in Hopelawn until displaced by a tornado in August of 1941 which still in the basement of their house that was totally demolished. Graduated Perth Amboy High School in 1945. John served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he entered into Real Estate in 1954. He became president of the Dial Agency Real Estate and Insurance Firm. He was a past member of the Board of directors of Middlesex County Multiply Lifting System, past member of the Middlesex County Board of Realtors, approved Real Estate Appraiser with the Federal Housing, Veteran Administration, Banks & Mortgage Companies, past real estate instructor with Professional School of Business. John was also a member of Musicians Locals 373 and 204, he was a lead Saxophonist for many of the local dance orchestras during the Big Band Era.

John married Theresa ( nee Dudas ), 82, in 1949. She was employed by Westinghouse for many years as a receptionist. They were married for 65 years until her passing on Friday, August 1, 2014 at her residence with her family by her side, were she will join John for all eternity.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 10 am at the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy. Burial will be at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Perth Amboy. Visiting is on Sunday from 1 ~ 5 pm. A Parastas Service will be held on Sunday at 4pm.
