Willie Lee James, 65, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. He was born in Tifton, GA, came to New Jersey in
1966 settling in Somerset before making his permanent residence in New Brunswick. Willie was a hardworking father of seven who was truly a very family orientated man and father to his surrounding community. He had worked in many different areas, paving and construction, appliance sales, with his last employment being a Superintendent of Maintenance for a local apartment complex Willie did whatever it took to take care of his family. Willie was an avid western movies buff, a pool shark, enjoyed boxing and baseball. He was a sharp dresser who ruled with an iron fist and ran the race to the end.
He was predeceased by his parents Lee and Alice Mae (McCall) James, his brothers Charles and Elijah James and his "baby girl" that he so missed Delores "Lois" Glover. Willie is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Mary (Lamar) James, his devoted children Willie, Tony, Derek, Walter, Sanford and Jaqueline, his cherished 53 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, his dear brother Charlie King and his sisters Ernestine Phillips, Mary Bell and Marie Carrington and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will take place at the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, Somerset Street (Route 27), Franklin, NJ beginning at 10:00am Friday, August 8th with funeral service at 11:00am. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Georges Road, North Brunswick, NJ.
