John William "Bill" Stuart

AGE: 99 • Formerly Of North Brunswick

John William "Bill" Stuart, 99, of Riddle Village, Media, PA, formerly of North Brunswick, NJ, passed away Wednesday evening, August 20, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Muriel (Miller) Stuart, Riddle Village; and two sons, William (Barbara) of Bainbridge Island, WA, and Douglas (Catherine) of Havertown, PA. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Born in Walden, New York, on April 9, 1915, Bill was the son of Herbert Stuart and Hilda Fairest Stuart, and grew up in New Brunswick, NJ. He was a printer (compositor) his entire professional life and a member of the International Typographical Union. Bill was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II in Europe. Bill was an avid naturalist and birdwatcher. He was also one of the founders of the Wa-Xo-Be Archery Club in Milltown, NJ. Bill was also an enthusiastic gardener who spent hours tending his tomatoes, zucchini and many other Garden State vegetables. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at St. George's Episcopal Church, One West Ardmore Avenue, Ardmore, PA 19003. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Bill's memory be made to Philabundance or the Friends of Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge.
