James W. Horst, 58, died Friday, August 22, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
He was born April 3, 1956 in Plainfield to Robert G. and Frances Jones Horst. He was raised in Dunellen and had resided in Bridgewater and Somerville before residing in Bound Brook for the last 9 years.
Jim was a Maintenance Foreman with the Somerset County Park Commission for more than 7 years and was responsible for the development of the Natirar Park in Somerset County. He had also worked for many years at Hay Hill Kennels in Green Brook. In his early years, he had been active with the Cub Scouts in Dunellen. He was a 1974 graduate of Dunellen High School. Jim had also been an active member with A.A. groups in Central Jersey.
He is survived by a son, Kyle R. Horst of Hillsborough, his brother, Edward R. Horst and his wife, Deborah of Port Charlotte, FL, his former wife, Michele, a cousin who was raised in the Horst home, Margaret Michalski of Vermont and two nieces, Rachel Smith and Jessica Horst.
