Joseph J. Szostak

AGE: 92 • South River

Joseph J. Szostak passed away on August 29, 2014 at Care One, East Brunswick. He was 92. Born in South River, he was a life-long resident.Prior to his retirement in 1977, he was a Master Carpenter for the Local Union of Milltown for 30 years. He enlisted in the Army during the WWII era where he was discharged honorably.He was a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church, South River.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Goldie Alexander Szostak, who died in May of 2014. He is also predeceased by his son, Joseph Szostak III; a brother, Edward Szostak and his wife, Matilda; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Hetman and brother-in-law, Henry Hetman. Surviving are his daughter JoAnn and her husband Tom Sabo of Franklin Park; a granddaughter, Kimberly and her husband John Socoloski Jr. of Spotswood, and a grandson, Dr. Glenn and his wife Janine Geada of Waxhaw, NC; four great grandchildren, John C., Breanna, Sydney and Shane. He is also survived by four sisters-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept 3 at 10:00am at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, followed by a 11:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, South River. Private cremation will follow. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
