Frank "Rocky" Castellano Jr., age 65, of Spotswood passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, with his loving family at his side.
Born in Jersey City, he was raised in the Morgan section of Sayreville before moving to Spotswood in 1974.
Before his retirement in 2005, he was employed by International Brotherhood of Iron Workers Local 373 in Perth Amboy for 35 years as an iron worker. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Cuban Crisis with the 1st Armored Division; a member of Sayreville American Legion Post 211; a member of Immaculate Conception Knights of Columbus Council 4907 in Spotswood; and a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2157 in Pompano Beach, Fla. Frank was a communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Spotswood. He was an avid golfer and devoted Giants Football Fan.
Predeceased by his parents, Frank P. and Grace E. Griffin Castellano.
Surviving are a wife of 41 years, the former Mary Ann Totka; a son, Frank Castellano III and his wife, Lana of Jackson; a daughter, Denise Castellano of Old Bridge; two grandchildren, Frank IV and Mia Rose Castellano of Jackson; a sister, Sally Maher and her husband, Bill of Parlin; two brothers, Robert Castellano and his wife, Kristine of Lakewood, and Joseph Castellano and his wife, Maureen of Parlin, and many loving nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday from Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, followed by a 10:15 a.m. Mass at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Spotswood, with burial to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Calling hours are from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The following groups will hold services Monday at the funeral home: 7:15 a.m. American Legion Post 211, 8 p.m. Immaculate Conception K of C council 4907.
