Albert Ryno, 87, died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Norwood Terrace in Plainfield. Born and raised in Plainfield, he lived in South Plainfield from 1945 until moving to North Plainfield in 1985. Mr. Ryno graduated from Plainfield High School and attended both Rutgers University and Davis and Elkins College. A veteran of World War II, he graduated from Selman Field Navigation School and flew 50 combat missions as a navigator on a B-24 in the Army Air Force 90th Bombardiers' Group in the South Pacific, and attained the rank of Captain. He was employed as the east coast property representative for Chevron Oil for 36 years before retiring in 1985. Active in civic affairs, he was a member of the South Plainfield Board of Adjustment; a member and former President of the South Plainfield Board of Education; and director of South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club. He was also a member of the Old Guard of the Plainfields; the Roadrunners Club; and Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Beeching Ryno; two sons and their wives, Bruce and Ruth Ryno and Craig and Janice Ryno; and four grandchildren, Brian Ryno, Nancy Ryno Ewing (and her husband, Josh), Krystal Ryno and Ashley Ryno.
Services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, on Wednesday, May 20, at 10 a.m. Entombment with military honors will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.
