John Chomyak, 95, of New York City, NY entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, NY. Born in McDonald, Pennsylvania to his late parents Wasyl and Helen (Becza) Chomyak, John was raised in Manville, NJ having settled to New York City, NY after the war. John was honorably discharged from the United States Army having faithfully served his country as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. Prior to the war, John worked in the laboratory at Johns Manville Corporation in Manville, NJ. After his service to our country, he was employed as an electronics technician with Western Electric in Kearny, NJ. During this era he was privileged to have been instrumental in working some of the first computers ever made. After 27 years and 8 months of dedication, he retired on May 31, 1979 and had been a member of the company's Pioneer Club. John was a graduate of Juilliard having traveled with symphony orchestras as a classical violinist for many years.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his dear brother, William Chomyak. John leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Anna, with whom he joined hands in marriage in July of 1961 and his loving son, John Joseph Chomyak of New York.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835. At the family's request services will be held privately with Father Matthew Moriak of Holy Ghost Orthodox Church in Manville officiating.
