Obituary Condolences

Orysia Schmanko, 76, of Carteret, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at JF Kennedy Medical Center, Edison. She was born in the Ukraine and lived in Carteret for over 60 years. Orysia was a parishioner of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Carteret, was one of the Perogi Ladies and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Mike Schmanko; and her parents, Joseph and Stephania Zimmerman. Orysia was the beloved mother of Bohdan Schmanko and his wife Susan of Carteret, Patricia Zube of Carteret, Kathleen Ely and her husband Phillip of Virginia, Donna Pallonetti and her husband Michael of California, Michael Schmanko of Carteret, and Barbara Schmanko and her husband Brian Ward of Toms River. She was the beloved grandmother of John Zube Jr. and his wife Vanessa, Jennie-Lee Schmanko, Danielle and Joseph DeLuca; and great-grandmother of Gianna and Alexis Zube. She is also survived by her loving sister, Lydia Kilyk; and her brother, Roman Zimmerman. Orysia also leaves behind her beloved dog, Misha;
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, with a Parastas service at 7:30 p.m. at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Ave., Carteret. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 at the funeral home, followed by a Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Carteret. Interment will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
