Obituary Condolences

Stephen Shanko, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 91. Born in Chester, Pa., he lived in Jersey City before moving to East Brunswick 58 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1979, he was a pipefitter for Jersey City Central Railroad, Jersey City for 37 years. Mr. Shanko was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Victoria Tupkielewicz Shanko; a son, Stephen and his wife Jill of of East Brunswick; two daughters, Maryanne Stahley and her husband Jim of Monroe Township, and Valerie Oremus and her husband Rick of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a brother, Ronald Shanko and his wife Marge of Cedar Knolls; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Brunswick Memorial Home, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.
