WILLIAM J. "POPS" WALSH, JR
AGE: 89 CARTERET
William J. "Pops" Walsh Jr., 89, of Carteret, NJ, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway. Born in Carteret, he was a lifelong resident. He was a Graduate of Carteret High School Class of 1937, and the Newark College of Engineering. He was a Chemist at U.S. Metals & Refining Company for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He was a Communicant of St. Joseph's R.C. Church and was a member of the American Legion Post # 263. He was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving in World War II.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, William & Esther (Coupland) Walsh and his grandson, Peter William Goodman. He is survived by his Wife of 58 years, Anne Walsh; daughter & son-in-law, Bridget & John Andaloro of Hockessin Delaware; daughter & son-in-law, Nora & John Goodman of Long Valley; son, William Walsh III of Carteret; son & daughter-in-law, James & Judy Walsh of Point Pleasant; son & daughter-in-law, Matthew & Kathy Walsh of Toms River and his sister, Willa Rapp of Grandbury Texas. He is also survived by his twelve Grandchildren and one Great-Granddaughter.
We will begin to leave at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday from the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home 419 Barclay Street Perth Amboy, for a 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Gertrude's Cemetery Colonia. Visiting Hours will be Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph's Church would be appreciated.
