Herbert V. Struve, 88, of Edison, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at home. Born Feb. 26, 1922 in Perth Amboy, he resided in Edison for the past 60 years prior to that in Perth Amboy. He worked for the Department of Public Works of Edison Township. He was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Metuchen, member of the American Legion, Edison, member of the James Page Marine Detachment, and a member of the Crescent Shrine in Burlington. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and participated in action against the enemy at Bougainville, S.I., also in Guam, Iwo Jima, and Volcano Island.
He was predeceased many brothers and sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jeannette (nee Erickson) Struve of Edison; four daughters, Lorin Rizco and her husband Stephen of Hillsborough, Janine Struve of Edison, Kristine Spaventa and her husband Allen of Edison, and Cheri Borzek and her husband Richard of Jackson; five grandchildren, Keith, Jacqulin, Jill, Michael and Mark; and five great-grandchildren, Brady, Riley, Bailey, Brandon, and Ryann.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 2 at Flynn & Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3 at the funeral home, followed by interment in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
