Lynn Smith was the youngest child of the late Eugene and Hazel Smith. She was born in New Brunswick. God decided to call Lynn home to glory. Lynn suddenly departed this mortal life on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Formerly a resident of Metuchen, she moved to Linden 14 years ago. Lynn worked for Metuchen Taxi for 35 years as a former driver, and then as a dispatcher for 11 years. She played for several softball teams located in Metuchen, Plainfield, New Brunswick, Edison and Woodbridge.
Lynn was predeceased by her parents, Eugene and Hazel Smith; a sister, Phyllis Smith-Doyle, and a brother, Eugene Edward Smith. Left to cherish her memories are her two sisters, Sharon and Cheryl; two brothers, Leroy and Robert; sister-in-law, Daster Smith; a friend, Kathleen Hammel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other dear relatives and beloved friends.
The viewing will be from 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 until the service at 10 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 45 Hampton St., Metuchen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to JFK Foundation Outpatient Lymphedema Clinic, 80 James St., Edison, NJ 08820 in memory of Lynn Smith. Arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sandford St., New Brunswick.
