William J. Durkin "Bill", 80, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011. During the Korean War, Bill served with the U.S. Navy. Bill was a resident of Middletown for 53 years. Bill had his own business in Paterson, known as the Quality Tube and Box Co. for many years. More recently, he was in sales with The Newark Group, retiring on Dec. 31, 2010.
Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie "Riet" Durkin; two sons, Douglas of San Francisco, Calif., and Jay and his wife, Laura of New Canaan, Conn.; and two grandchildren, Kelsey and Charles.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13 at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14 at St. James R.C.
