AGE: 50 • formerly of Port Reading
Daniel Rebecca, Jr., formerly of Port Reading, most recently of Guangzhou, China passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 26, 2011. He was 50.
Danny was born in Paterson and lived most of his life in Port Reading, where he was devoted to helping family and friends. He graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1978 and soon after graduated from Lincoln Tech and became a mechanic at Ronnie's Gulf in Carteret. He was later employed as plant manager for S.P. Industries in Carteret, Omni Labs in Edison and for Posner Cosmetics in South Plainfield; and headed many business ventures in Boston, MA and Ambler, PA.
In 1994 he turned his sights to owning his own business and went overseas to China to work in the import and export business. It was in China that he found the love of his life and eventual wife, Ada. They started a bagel business in Guangzhou, China. Danny's Bagels was born and became very successful. Building on that success they also started a restaurant serving Italian-American food. Ada watched over daily operations and Danny watched the books. Together they were not just husband and wife, they were best friends living out their dreams together.
Daniel is predeceased by his parents, Florence Rebecca, in 2001 and Daniel Rebecca, Sr., in 1994.
Surviving are his wife of over 13 years, Ada Rebecca; and a brother, Joseph Rebecca, of Port Reading.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a special mass in Danny's memory on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 436 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading. A celebration of Danny's life will follow at Don Bosco Council Knights of Columbus, 290 Old Road, Port Reading.
