Jane Hollander, of Long Branch passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at the Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was born in Newark and lived most of her life in Interlaken and Elberon before moving to West End. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Dolores Smith Hollander and Leonard A. Hollander and her brother, Alfred Hollander. Jane was one of the last surviving family members of the late A. Hollander & Sons who were the world's largest fur dressers and dyers and at the time listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Jane always said, "The Hollanders specialized in making cheap furs look expensive, especially mink-dyed muskrat." Jane was a graduate of Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts. She worked for the County of Monmouth where she was the Promotion and Information Director. After her time at the County, she went to work at Monmouth Medical Center as Director of Public Relations until her retirement. Jane had a love for the Sunday New York Times, politics and football.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Anna Hollander and her nieces and nephews, Patricia and John Tomaino, of Red Bank, Leonard and Pamela Hollander, of Eatontown and Elizabeth Fleck, of San Diego, Ca.; her great-nieces and nephews, Jennifer Tomaino, Christopher Tomaino and Jake Hollander and her dear friend Mary Heinle, of Oceanport.
