Theodore M. "Ted" Ritter

AGE: 76 • Bridgewater

Theodore M. "Ted" Ritter, 76, died January 3, 2012. Ted was born and raised in Allentown, PA, and resided in Bridgewater, NJ, for over 50 years. He was employed as a mechanical engineer for Egan Machinery in Bridgewater for 35 years and then worked with AGFA Corporation in Branchburg until he retired in 2003. He was a veteran of the US Navy during peacetime and graduated from Lehigh University in 1961 with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ted enjoyed going back to route for his alma mater for football games. He was an active member of the North Branch Reformed Church in Bridgewater and liked participating in various events and outings organized by the church. Ted enjoyed traveling the world and was able to visit some of the most unique and exceptional places. He was known to mentor others in their personal and professional lives and acted as guide to family, friends and neighbors throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed reading, attending plays and concerts and was an avid golfer. Ted was a devoted family man and friend to all. The greatest joy of his life was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all.

He is predeceased by his sister Virginia Dietz. Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Marie; three daughters, Lynn Ritter-Cargill and her husband John, Janis Lowndes and her husband Raymond, and Karen Pillion and her husband Michael; five grandchildren, Stephen, Kathleen, JD, Alastair and Justin.

Funeral Services will be 11am Saturday at North Branch Reformed Church, 203 Highway 28, Bridgewater. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation 3-5pm & 7-9pm Friday at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave., Somerville.
