Raymond Carmine Pirone, 79, died on April 10, 2012 at his home in Stuart, Florida. He was born in Bound Brook, NJ on August 4, 1932 to Carmine and Carissima Pirone, Italian immigrants. He graduated from Bound Brook High School and went onto South Eastern Louisiana State University on a music scholarship, played on their tennis team, also serving in the U.S. Army. He also received a Masters in music education from Columbia University. Ray married Veronica St. John on June 14, 1958. As an accomplished musician, he was a member of "The Etudes", a local group of musicians and very active with other prominent professionals. Ray owned and operated Ray's Musicland in Middlesex, NJ. He was also an elementary school teacher, musical instrument repairman, helping to found the NAPBIRT (National Assoc. of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians). Moving to Broward County, Florida in 1976, he continued to pursue his passion for music and education in the Broward County School system and other private enterprises before retiring to Stuart, FL.
He is survived by his spouse, "Ronnie" and three children, Kim Pirone Oda, Colleen Pirone and Major Sean Pirone, grandchildren Aiden, Roneltha and Lucyanna, and great grandchildren, Zion and Leilani, two sisters, Mary Ann Buono and Rose Marie Cianfrone, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his four brothers; Domenic, Bernard (Babe), Joseph and Jack and two sisters; Carmella Savage and Ursula Pappalardo.
