Anthony Zoppi Obituary
AGE: 84 • Point Pleasant
Anthony R. Zoppi, 84 of Point Pleasant died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Chelsea of Brick. He was born in Port-au-Prince Haiti and moved to the U.S. at age 9. He then lived in Bloomfield before moving to Point Pleasant 48 years ago. Tony was and Associate engineer for RCA in Harrison for 20 years and a custodian for 10 years for the Pt. Pleasant Boro Board of Education. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and he was a communicant of St. Martha's Church, Pt. Pleasant.
He was predeceased by his wife Diana Afflitto Zoppi in 1994 Who he loved until his death. His parents: Caeser and Louisa Ciccone Zoppi. Also his siblings: Julio, Anita and Orlando Zoppi, Youlanda DeTata and Mafalda Ellis . He was also pre-deceased by his son-in-law Eric Bloomberg.
Tony was an avid reader who focused on education and was a man of worldly knowledge. He was a great story teller, persuasive and fun. He loved his family as he always impressed upon all of us "family first".
Surviving are six daughters Diana Monia and her husband Jim, Toms River; Debbie Scharff and her husband John, Neptune; Camille Bloomberg , Lawrenceville, NJ; Donna Solik and her husband Brian, Toms River; Judy Young and her husband Bill, Belmar; and Maryann McQuillan and her husband Robert, Greenwood Lake, NY and ten grandchildren Jonathan, Jimmy, Andrew, Melissa, Alyssa, Billy, Anthony, Meredith, Ashley, Charissa, Trey and Tiana.
Visitation will be Today Sunday-from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick. A funeral service will be held Monday 10:00 am at St. Andrews United Methodist Church on Church Rd. Toms River Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Wall Twp. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Point Pleasant Foundation for Excellence in Education P.O. box 3171 Point Pleasant, NJ 08742.

We are very sorry for your loss.
We were neighbors when we lived in NJ and my wife, Carole, worked for a while with Mrs Zoppi. John (Tony) and I used to play chess and sometimes bocci. He was a good friend and neighbor and had a great family. May he rest in peace. Our prayers are with the family.
