AGE: 84 • Carteret

Charles S Panko 84, of Carteret, died on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at home. He was born in Perth Amboy and lived in Carteret for most of his life. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph RC Church in Carteret, where he was an usher for many years. Charles was a 1945 graduate of Perth Amboy High School and a 1955 graduate of Fordham University College of Pharmacy.

He retired after 20 years as Director of Pharmacy at JF Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, during which many upgrades and improvements of the policies and procedures were implemented. Prior to that he was employed by Puhan Pharmacy in Fords and by Perth Amboy Hospital. Charles enjoyed Nascar, was an avid bowler, explorer of light houses, die hard fan of the

Detroit Tigers and was officially recognized by the organization as one of their # 1 fans. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and the Korean War, serving as Hospital Corpsman. Charles was a member of the Knights of Columbus Carey Council 1280 in Carteret and a member of the Order of The Alhambra. He is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Audrey Sahulcik Panko; his son, Richard; his two nephews, Ronald and Robert Panko and

several cousins.

The Funeral will be on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 9 AM

at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue in Carteret. Mass at 9:30

AM at St. Joseph RC Church in Carteret, Interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Hopelawn. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The K of C will hold their ritual at 7:15 PM on Thursday.
