AGE: 86 • Laurence Harbor

John "Jack" Denney, Sr., 86, of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge left us eight years to the day of the passing of his loving wife Susan Denney, November 13, 2012. Born on July 6, 1926, in Jersey City and lived most of his life in the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge. He was in the US Navy and served in the Korean War. He was a welder at the Perth Amboy dry docks, also worked at Phelps Dodge Copper Tubing in South Brunswick and the Municipal Utilities Authority Sewer Division in Old Bridge for 17 years where he retired. He also volunteered his time coaching at the Laurence Harbor Jets football association and Laurence Harbor little league. Finally, he enjoyed pitching for the Cliffwood/Aberdeen men's softball league until he was 77 years young.

He was predeceased by his mother, Anna Geraghty; his loving wife, Susan and his three sons, Theodore, Harold, Charles and grandson, Theodore Denney. He is survived by his loving family: Marcella Denney of South Amboy, Jacqueline and Robert Rosant Sr. of Cliffwood Beach, John Denney Jr. of Old Bridge, Theresa Ann and James Sporer of Laurence Harbor, Susan Navarrete of Laurence Harbor, Robert and Betty Denney of Old Bridge, Rocco Denney and fiancé Patricia Kohler of Old Bridge and Roxanne and Christine Shea-Denney of Cliffwood Beach. John (Pop-Pop) is survived by 28 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren on the way. We will all miss you dearly.

Visitation will be 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 9pm Thursday at Day Funeral Home Inc., 361 Maple Place, Keyport. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9am at St. Lawrence R.C. Church in Laurence Harbor. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport. Condolences may be sent to DAYFH@VERIZON.NET on the web.
