Caloma C. Payumo, 94, died December 3, 2012. Caloma was born in Philippines and resided at Somerset and Basking Ridge before moving to Somerville in 2009. She was employed in her early years as the owner and operator of Chaves Pawn Shop in Manila, Philippines. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville. Caloma enjoyed watching TV, reading newspapers, doing crossword puzzles and most of all caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the joy of her life. As aptly described by one of her grandchildren, Caloma's legacy is a life of exceptional strength, honor, generosity and courage, the very traits that she lived by and never failed to teach her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all.
She is predeceased by her husband Bartolome who died in 1985. Surviving are her daughters, Lourdes Corrales, Eva Olivo, Susan Villaflores and Corazon Laysico, her sons, Jesse, Tomas, Raul and Ramon and 27 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10am Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 No. Gaston Ave. Somerville. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
