Veronica Pastuszak

AGE: 86 • Fords

Veronica passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 peacefully at her home in Fords. She was born in 1926 in Easthampton, MA and resided in Fords for the past 65 years. She worked at USMR in Carteret as an Executive Secretary for 38 years. She was a member of St Stephen's / Blessed John Paul II Parish. Veronica was generous, especially with the people she loved. She never paid lip-service to an idea. Instead, she always brought it through to fruition. It really did not matter what was involved or what it would cost, she'd just roll up her sleeves and dig in. Veronica yielded to no one, she never hesitated. She never second guessed herself, for she knew "it would all work out in the end," and she was right. Veronica was absolutely gorgeous, stunning and radiant. Sometimes she would laugh so hard she'd cry, and at those times her smile would light up her complexion. Honestly, it really didn't take much to get her to laugh. Sometimes her husband would tell a silly joke or someone else would make a wry remark, and then she'd start. However, Veronica could also laugh at herself, which truly separated her from the crowd. "Well if I'm not laughing, I'm going to start crying, so I might as well laugh," she would say, and she would be right. Veronica was a practical woman, and she enjoyed the most unadorned things in life. She loved going for rides with her husband to the farms, sitting out on the porch with a crossword puzzle and a bag of pretzels, or shopping for ornaments to decorate her home. Veronica made the most ordinary days, extraordinary, or as Veronica would say "I made the most of it," and she was right. In fact, she was always right.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wladysyawa and Jacob Andryszczyk; her loving husband, Anton; sister, Stella Urbanski; brother, Edward Andryszczyk, and sister, Sophie Czysc. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Basilici of Fords, and granddaughter, Alicia Michele Basilici.

Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday, December 14 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Zylka Funeral Home, 513-515 State St., Perth Amboy. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15 at 9:45am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St Stephen's Church in Perth Amboy, followed by burial at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia.
