James J. Grandjean Sr.

AGE: 91 • formerly of Parlin

James J. Grandjean Sr., age 91, formerly of Parlin, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at his sons home in Jackson. Born in Yonkers, New York he had resided in Parlin for 50 years prior to moving to Manchester in 2003. Before his retirement in 1989 he was employed by the State of New Jersey Motor Vehicle Division for 40 years retiring as regional manager. James was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member and past Grand Knight of Saint Bernadette's Knights of Columbus Council 8478 and their 4th Degree assembly where he served as Faithful Navigator and served as State District Deputy. Mr. Grandjean was a communicant of Saint Bernadette's R.C. Church in Parlin and Saint John's in Lakehurst and was a member of V.F.W. Post 133 in East Brunswick and Post 7508 in Old Bridge.

He is predeceased by his wife Loretta Bralczyk Grandjean in 1978, his daughter Lorraine Everitt in 2011 and his brother Robert Erwin. Surviving are his children and their spouses Nancy Grandjean of Durham, NC, James & Judie Grandjean of Jackson, Jerry & Jessica Grandjean of Somerset, his son in law Jeffrey Everitt of Durham, NC and his grandchildren Ian Everitt, Dane Everitt and Simon Grandjean.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, followed by a 9:30am mass at St Bernadette's R. C. Church in Parlin with burial to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Members of St Bernadette's K of C and 4th Degree Assembly will hold service Tuesday at the funeral home at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in James name be made to Van Dyke Hospice @ Community Medical Center, Toms River, N.J. Letters of condolence may be sent to the family at
