John F. "Jack" Stephenson IV, 23, died on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. He was born in Somerville on May 31, 1989, a son of John F. III and Vicki Bell Stephenson. He had resided in LaVerne, CA before moving to Bridgewater 13 years ago. Jack had attended Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg. He was last employed as a manager of the GNC Store in Clinton for one year. Jack excelled at playing baseball with the LaVerne Little League team in LaVerne, CA. He enjoyed playing paintball, was an avid weightlifter, and enjoyed horesback riding. Jack was a great salesman, was intelligent, quick-witted with a fabulous sense of humor, and was helpful to others. He had a fondness for cars and dreamed of owning a high-end luxury car. Jack was a member of the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church and had at one time declared his religion as "pedestrian" rather than "Presbyterian" to the laughter of those in attendance. He is predeceased by an infant sister, Maryn L. Stephenson, who died in 1987; and by his maternal grandfather, Howard D. Bell, who died in 2001. Jack is survived by his parents, John F. and Vicki Bell Stephenson III of Bridgewater; a sister, Jordan M. Stephenson of Bridgewater; his paternal grandparents, Rev. Dr. John F. and Jeanne M. Stires Stephenson Jr. of Bridgewater; and his maternal grandmother, Helen I. Bell of Johnson City, TN. He is also survived by his pitbull dog and sidekick, Bruno. A funeral service will be held at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, 311 Route 202 - 206, Pluckemin on Monday, January 14 at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Pluckemin Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater on Sunday 7-9pm. Arrangements are by the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to SWIM, INC., 120 Finderne Avenue, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
