Margaret Mary Don Obituary
Margaret Mary Don

AGE: 86 • Belmar

Margaret Mary "Peggy" (nee Kennedy) Don, 86, of Belmar passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in New York, NY, Peggy had resided in the Bronx before moving to the Shore in 1958. She was a Belmar resident for over 43 years and a faithful Communicant of St. Rose RC Church, Belmar. Peggy grew up in a close-knit Bronx Irish-American family. Those who knew her grew to love her and cherish her friendship and kindness. Always ready with a cup of tea and a laugh, Peggy was a life-long friend to many who always made you feel at home. Holiday get-togethers in Belmar abounded with laughter, good times and a healthy dose of Peggy's home cooking. The void left with her passing will be most felt by her children as they will long remember the unconditional and absolute love of the pillar in their lives. Together with the recent passing of her husband, a treasured era has ended for her family.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents Simon and Margaret Healy Kennedy, her husband of 64 years, Joseph F. Don, and her beloved sisters Maureen Reisert and Patricia Groonell. She is survived by her devoted children and their spouses, David Don and his partner Frank Salustro of New York, NY, Denis Don and wife Lovina of Oakhurst, Paul Don of Belmar and Margaret (Meg) Batalas and husband Sakis of Wanamassa, her loving siblings James Kennedy of Fresh Meadows, NY, Denis Kennedy of North Merrick, NY, William Kennedy of Franklin Square, NY, Sheila Cherico of Orlando, Fla. and her sister in law Mary Sparacino of Mineola, NY and daughter in law, Lindsay Don of Howell. Also surviving are her grandchildren Joseph, Daniel, Matthew, Angela and Robert Don and George Batalas and her great granddaughters Maraid and Abigail Batalas.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 10:00am at the Church of St. Rose, Belmar.
