Frederick W. Koch, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Shorrock Gardens Nursing Home, Brick. He was 92. Born in Newark, he grew up in the Highlands before moving to and building his home in Lincroft. Finally, he settled in Lakewood 30 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1981, Mr. Koch was an Air Conditioning Mechanic at Fort Monmouth in Eatontown, where he worked for 32 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served from 1942-1945. Mr. Koch was an avid card player and a model train enthusiast. He loved to dance, specifically ballroom dancing.
Surviving are his 3 sons, Frederick and his wife Ingunn of Norway, Andrew of Sneads Ferry, NC, Peter and his wife Sharon of FL; a daughter, Diane Kunen of Lakewood and their mother, Dinah Berentes; and 6 grandchildren, Alexandra, Ryan Andrew, Peter, Megan, Dinah and Fredrikke. He is also survived by his wife of 11 years, Florence Rose, residing in Atco.
Friends may call for visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27 at D'Elia Funeral Home, Rte. 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the N.J. Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown.
