Ellen P. Brennan, age 68, of Little Silver, passed away at Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013. Ellen was born in New York City, a place that she held with great affection her entire life. She attended Gerard School for Girls in New York, and moved to New Jersey in 1954. She attended St. James School and Red Bank Catholic High School. She graduated from Monmouth University in 1965. She also did post-graduate work at Georgian Court University and in Barcelona, Spain. Ellen was a teacher in the Neptune Township School District from 1965 until her retirement in 2004. She taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to Neptune Middle and High School students for many years, a position she particularly enjoyed. Mrs. Brennan was a resident of Little Silver for 41 years. She was parishioner of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Red Bank. She was a member of Monmouth Beach Bath and Tennis Club; a former member of Navesink Country Club and Deal Golf and Country Club. She was a fundraiser for the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury for several years.
Ellen was predeceased by her loving parents, Joseph E. and Ellen C. Ellen is survived by her beloved family, including her husband of 42 years, Raymond T. Brennan; her son, Brian O. of Red Bank; and her daughter, Erin K. of Red Bank. She is also survived by her sister, Karen J. Perry of Toms River, N.J.; several cousins, and a wide extended family circle in both the United States and Ireland. She will be particularly well remembered for her love of her family, artistic sense of style, and her colorful sense of humor.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 4th, 5-8:00 PM at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street, Red Bank. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 5th, 10:00 AM at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Burial will be private at the convenience of her family.
