Gertrude "Tina" Santoro died Feb 14, 2013, at McCarrick Care Center in Somerset. She was 87. Born in Somerset she had moved to North Brunswick in 1950. She was a machine operator for five years at Johnson and Johnson in North Brunswick and was a seamstress for over 70 years. Mrs. Santoro was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in New Brunswick. She was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Brunswick Italian American Club and was an Honorary Life Member of the North Brunswick First Aid and Rescue Squad.
She was an avid bowler and New York Yankees fan. Her husband Carmelo "Carmen" Santoro died in 1993. She is also predeceased by her son Leonard Santoro and sister Rosalie Persons. Surviving are three sons: Nicholas Santoro and his wife Barbara of Milltown, Carmen Santoro and his wife Enid of Easton, Pennsylvania and Vincent Santoro and his wife Stephanie of Freehold; a sister Mary Gyurinko of North Brunswick; her companion Herb Hendrickson of Rahway; eight grandchildren: Jeffrey, Carolyn, Anthony, Stephen Emily, James and Christina Santoro and Amanda Santoro-Esposito; and two great grandchildren: Ryan and Connor.
Funeral services will be 9:15AM Monday from Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick followed by a 10AM Mass at St. Mary of Mt. Virgin Church in New Brunswick. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM.
