Jerry J. Sullivan, 91, passed away April 9, 2013. Jerry was born and raised in Bayonne and resided in Staten Island for many years before moving to Somerville in 1997. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic for Nassau Smelting division of Western Electric in Staten Island, retiring in 1982. Jerry served during World War II in the 12th Armored Division and the 495 Field Artillery. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville and a member of American Legion Post 12. Jerry also was past president of the Thayer Chapter of AT&T Pioneers. In retirement, Jerry enjoyed reading and traveling. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen of 66 years. Surviving are his son Dennis Sullivan, and his wife Margaret, two granddaughters, Heather Sullivan and her husband Christopher Graf and Meredith Boyan and her husband George, a great-grandson Adam Sullivan Gruber, brother Frank and sister Theresa Sullivan.
Prayers will be 8:30am Saturday at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 North Gaston Ave., Somerville followed by a 9:30am Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, in Somerville. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm Friday at the funeral home.
