Frank Tagliareni, 89, of Iselin died on Monday, April 15, 2013 at RW Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Bayonne, he resided in Iselin since 1953. Frank was a US Army combat veteran of WW II who participated in the D-day landing and the Battle of the Bulge. For service in action he received the Bronze Star and was twice awarded the Purple Heart. Frank was employed as a supervisor at the Bayonne Naval Base followed by an extended period as the owner of Two Buddies tavern in Jersey City. He last worked in the field of transportation with Doyle Trucking followed by Colorite Plastics from which he retired in the late 80's.
His wife, Myrtle "Tootie" died in 1996, a daughter Jill Rehfeld died in 2012, survived by her longtime companion Peter Starlin. He was also predeceased by a brother Benny, survived by his wife Kay, and a sister Mildred. Surviving are two sons Frank Jr. of Las Vegas NV, Ken and his wife Katherine of North Brunswick; two daughters Mary Jo Gerity of Edison, Kim Tagliareni of Westfield and her longtime companion Tom Guthrie; a brother Salvatore and his wife Josephine of Boca Raton, FL; two sisters Mary "Dolly" Hennessey and her husband James and Josephine Manzella all of Bayonne; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Kc Tagliareni, his wife Deborah and their son Thatcher, Brian Tagliareni, Tom Gerity, Dylan Gerity and Jessica Tedesco, her husband Dominick and their daughter Gianna.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 at 10 AM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Metuchen, followed by interment at Cloverleaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge. Arrangements are by Costello-Runyon Funeral Home. To send condolences please visit costello-runyon.com.
