Theresa "Terry" Smith

Theresa Cecelia (Rosenkranz) Smith, 86, of Spotswood, died Monday, May 20, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Terry settled in Spotswood in 1950. She was a homemaker. Terry was a long time communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Immaculate Conception Columbiettes. She served on the Spotswood Boro charter study commission that changed the form of municipal government from elected commissioners to the present mayor/council form. She enjoyed playing bingo with her friends from the Spotswood Seniors, doing puzzles, tending her flowers and going out to eat. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Terry was predeceased by her husband, John "Bud" Smith in 2007, and she was the last of eleven children. She is survived by her children, Fr. William Smith of Port Reading, Edward Smith and his wife Arlene of Spotswood, Joan Wendaur and her husband John of Fayetteville, GA and Eileen Janas and her husband David of Spotswood; her six grandchildren, John Wendaur and his wife Lyndsi, Margaret and Michael Wendaur, Jodie and Timothy Janas and Daniel Smith.

Funeral services will begin with a Mass of Christian Burial from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, on Thursday at 10:45 AM, with interment following in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Church, 23 Manalapan Road, Spotswood. Arrangements are under the direction of Spotswood Funeral Home.
