Robert S. Macechak passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at his home. He was 64 years old. Born in Elizabeth, he lived in North Brunswick for many years before moving to Princeton in 1990. He was a commercial real estate appraiser for 25 years.
Robert will be remembered for his loving nature, great sense of humor, appreciation of fine art and the New York Yankees. Robert also had a love of cooking, which was greatly influenced by his many years working with his family at The Carriage House Restaurant in North Brunswick, which they owned. He took great joy in preparing meals for his family and friends and expressed his love by making each of them their favorite dish.
He is predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Helen (Gomboz) Macechak; his sister, Barbara M. Macechak; his father-in-law, Henry B. Hermanns. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Kathleen (Hermanns) Macechak; his mother-in-law, Rosalie Hermanns; sisters-in-law, Linda Byrd and her husband Harvey of North Carolina, Jennie Morin and her husband Patrick of New Jersey and Mary Shumaker and her husband Joseph of Maine; nieces and nephews, Erin, Amanda, Keenan and Kendra; cousins, Karen Skolnick and husband, Steve, and Susan Kornblum and husband, Alan, and family; and special friends - Scott and Mandy Chandler, Louie and Maryann Tarabelli, Betsy and Bill Coffin and Debbi Sherwen.
Cremation was private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VITAS Community Connection, c/o Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 1787 Sentry Parkway West, Bldg. 16, Suite 400, Blue Bell, PA 19422 (vitascommunity connection.org), Queenship of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Plainsboro, NJ, or any organization honoring our veterans.
