Marie J. Ritter, 77, died September 9, 2013. Marie was born and raised in Northampton, Pennsylvania and graduated from Northampton High School in 1954. She married Theodore M. Ritter and moved to Bridgewater, NJ in 1961where they resided for 50 years. In addition to staying home to raise their daughters, she was employed as a Lab Technician throughout 20 years at Western Electric, RCA, and retiring from Colgate Palmolive in Piscataway in 2000. She was an active member of the North Branch Reformed Church in Bridgewater, where she was a longtime member of the Bell Choir. Marie and her husband enjoyed traveling the world and were able to visit some of the most unique and exceptional places. Over the years, Marie enjoyed various actives including tennis, bowling, slots in AC, exercise classes and trips with the Bridgewater Senior Center. Marie was devoted to her family and had strong ties with her neighborhood and church communities. As a 22 year pancreatic cancer survivor, her greatest joy was being a Nana and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
She is predeceased by her husband Theodore, who died in Jan. 2012 and a brother Andrew Lakatosh. Surviving are her siblings, Helen Barna, Jean Flurer and Albert Lakatosh; her three daughters, Lynn Ritter-Cargill and her husband John, Janis Lowndes and her husband Raymond, and Karen Pillion and her husband Michael; and her five grandchildren, Stephen, Kathleen, JD, Alastair and Justin.
Funeral service will be 10:30am Saturday at the North Branch Reformed Church, 203 Route 28. Bridgewater. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 3-5pm & 7-9pm Friday at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 No. Gaston Ave. Somerville.
