Christine W. Stubbs passed 2/14/14. Born in Summerville SC. she was a resident of Plainfield many years before moving to San Mateo, Ca., She was a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church in Plainfield . Mrs. Stubbs was the first women to receive a degree in chemical engineering from Howard University and was employed in senior positions by Exxon, /Mobil, Merck, and Genentech. In addition she was an advocate for women's rights and an active recruiter for The National Society of Black Engineers.
Predeceased by her father Christopher Crummy ,she is survived by her husband Jessie L. Stubbs Sr., son Jessie L. Stubbs Jr., daughters Nyieka & Ayisha Stubbs, 4 grandchildren, mother Sallie Mae Williams, step daughter Sonya Hamilton, brothers Sam (Dorothy),& Anthony Williams, sisters Ida Mae &, Elaine Williams, and a host of loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10 Am at the Mt Olive Baptist Church 216 Liberty St, Plainfield, Visitation will be held Saturday 9-10Am at the church.
